Notes from “The informed Bodymind” a workshop by Nita Little

Notes from “The informed Bodymind” a workshop by Nita Little

This was a workshop held at The Trinity Centre, Bristol with Nita Little over 2 days in Summer 2016. Preamble This article is a set of note I took at the two day workshops by Nita Little, written up so that they hopefully make sense to people other than me. They are by no means endorsed by Nita, though I have kept quotes as accurate as I could write them down on the day. The illuminated meanings of the quotes…

Tree and Wind

Tree and Wind

This is my first ever attempt to write up one of my favourite a Contact Improvisation exercise, this one is one of my favourites. It’s an introductory exercise which can be followed by dancers of all ability and experience levels and yet produces sensitive engaged and collaborative movement. I don’t know it’s origin. The write up is my take on it and how it works best. All constructive feedback, on any level, is most appreciated. I’ve deliberately gone into why…

A Portrait of my WEEE

A Portrait of my WEEE

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment – WEEE. There’s lots of it around, 50 milion tonnes each year are produced worldwide. Crikey. If you do have some, and frankly who doesn’t, DO NOT leave it in the street or put it in your domestic rubbish, take it to a dump. Lead, cadmium, beryllium, and brominated flame retardants are the most famously toxic components, there are plenty of other nasties in there. Seriously, this stuff needs to get to the right place….

Bristol Slutwalk 2011

Bristol Slutwalk 2011

I made a Slutwalk Video! I headed up to the Slutwalk yesterday (1st October 2011). You can read about the origins of Slutwalking all round the internet. I knew why I was going, it’s an anti-rape demo, it’s a we can wear what we like demo, but I really wanted to get a range of perspectives and thoughts. Whilst we were waiting for the demo to kick off, I chatted to some off the participants and made a video I’ve titled…

Thin Sound At Long Last

Thin Sound At Long Last

The Problem We’ve had a “problem” with our LTSP suite – the thin clients we use in our office haven’t been playing the sound from Youtube videos. I don’t really pay much heed to problems with proprietary software issues. “It’s broken because its proprietary” is my usual response. In addition, the idea of enabling a company that I want to be productive to watch (and actually listen) to stuff on Internet’s own brain candy gogglebox doesn’t seem a good idea….

The Green Gathering 2011 nr. Chepstow

The Green Gathering 2011 nr. Chepstow

Trying to pick up where the Big Green Gathering, the Green Gathering 2011 had a lot of familiar faces. Really, a lot of familiar faces, to the extent that most of the crew seemed almost identical to the BGG crews of old. I found the level of disorganization to also be similar.

Daylight Cinema

Daylight Cinema

One of the reason I started this blog was that I realized some of the things I do might be fairly interesting to some, the daylight cinema was one project I thought worthy. Last year I got together a portable sound system made out of off the shelf components, 12v battery, inverter, MP3 player and a set of 2.1 computer speakers. It’s been invaluable for getting people dancing out in the street over the past 2 years or so.  It…
